Optimization Study on Longitudinal Joints in Quasi-Rectangular Shield Tunnels

There are large bending moments in quasi-rectangular shield tunnels due to their deviation from the circular shape, and as for other types of tunnels, longitudinal joints most critical parts lining structure. A new type joint with ductile iron panels (DIJPs) was installed solve these problems. The distance bolts segment’s inner surface improved better performance under specific moment types. Both tests finite element modeling (FEM) simulations were conducted investigate effect bolt position improvements. resistances crack appearance increased by 33.6% 18.0% positive negative cases, respectively. penetration 13.8% 18.4% cases.
